I’m a little worried for all you guys who are planning to get engaged around the holidays – or rather for the woman you’re planning to propose to. I’m worried that you may be influenced by Leonardo di Caprio’s new movie, Blood Diamond, and get some crazy notion into your head that you shouldn’t be buying diamonds.
I can tell you this. A pearl engagement ring won’t elicit that swooning response you’re hoping for. And besides, according to the research my sister, -- the Diamond Diva -- did more than 99 percent of diamonds are now conflict-free. So, a lot has happened to prevent the trade of conflict diamonds since the 1900s civil war in Sierra Leone.
