I think I deserve a present for Valentine’s Day, but what should it be? I was thinking of something along the lines of diamonds – I know, I know, so original. But I’m not thinking of something typical. I was watching the show The Fabulous Life – Celebrity Super Spenders of 2005 on VH-1 the other night when tons of new and exciting Valentine gift ideas popped into my head. The only challenge will be convincing Right to follow my lead.
So here’s what I was thinking. J. Lo bought herself diamond-adorned jeans. You think I can get away with that? I definitely don’t have her body, but I’ve been working on it…a little bit of Weight Watchers and yoga can go a long way. Enough with the Citizens and True Religion, on to something new. It’s not like I’m asking for 10 carats, but a few diamond chips here and there never hurt anyone.
Now on a more realistic note, how can I decide on the perfect Valentine’s gift for Right to give me (yes, I like to choose so that I’m guaranteed to be happy). If he wants to buy some Leo jewelry to match my Leo engagement ring, then go ahead. But if he’s thinking on the more economical side (saving money is always a good thing), I have some suggestions too. Let me premise this by saying that I love my Daily Candy emails. I think they’re always so clever and resourceful. So, what better way to come up with a gift than to consult with the candies. And the best part about it – both ideas I came up with are diamond-related!
First one – since we all know that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, the MoMA Design Store is promoting this habit and selling these really cute diamond rings. But don’t worry, these diamonds won’t make you go bankrupt. They are faux engagement rings and only $10 each. They come in clear or colored acrylic or sterling silver. And because of their fabulous price, you can stack them or switch off according to your outfit, mood, or anything else you can think of. Check them out at Daily Candy.
Next item that every girl needs, a facial. What does a facial have to do with diamonds - well get a load of this. At Spa Radiance in San Francisco (just a hop, skip and a jump away), they offer a Dazzling Diamonds facial. The treatment uses a diamond wand to exfoliate and do all that other fun stuff. Then they claim to recharge your skin and finally end with a light therapy session – did you get all of that because I think I need a tutorial. Before you know it, you’re glowing!
Enough about me. What should I get for Right? After searching through a bunch of websites, I decided on two options – each to go along with my above-mentioned themes. Now if I’m being sent for a facial, then I want to be ready to sparkle for my cleanly-shaven Right. At Saks, I found these grooming kits from The Art of Shaving – really cute and not too pricey. If I’m going with the accessories theme, something I’ve seen before and think is a great and useful idea is this leather catchall from Red Envelope. It’s an accessories tray so each night before Right goes to bed, when he takes off his wedding band (if I can’t convince him to sleep with it) he’ll have some place to put it. And he can even travel with it. Who wouldn’t love something like that!
So start shopping, pass on these suggestions and bling it on!
